Fall Show 2016

Gloucester High Theatre Program is happy to announce their 2016 Fall Production of
TWELFTH NIGHT
by William Shakespeare

Viola is shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria and she comes ashore with the help of a captain. She loses contact with her twin brother, Sebastian, whom she believes to be drowned. Disguising herself as a young man under the name Cesario, she enters the service of Duke Orsino, who has convinced himself that he is in love with Olivia who refuses to entertain love or marriage proposals from anyone until seven years have passed.  Olivia, however falls in love with 'Cesario', as she does not realize the Duke's messenger is a woman in disguise. In the meantime, Viola has fallen in love with the Duke creating a love triangle.

In the comic subplot, several characters conspire to make Olivia's pompous steward, Malvolio, believe that Olivia has fallen for him. This involves Olivia's uncle, Sir Toby Belch; another would-be suitor, a silly squire named Sir Andrew Aguecheek; her servants Maria and Fabian; and her fool, Feste. Meanwhile, Sebastian (who had been rescued by his friend, a sea captain, Antonio) arrives on the scene, which adds confusion of mistaken identity.

Summer and Fall

The kick-off event to summer, The July Block Party, was a HUGE SUCCESS. Thank you to everyone who came out and donated money.
We will be back out on Main Street for the Sidewalk Bazaar August 4th, 5th, and 6th with face painting, music, and more! Make sure to follow us on Facebook to keep up with the latest news.

We also want to thank the Gloucester Daily Times for celebrating Katy Geraghty and the Hexacords participating in POP TV's "Sing It On." If you can't watch their performance Wednesday, July 27th at 9pm, the award-winning a capella group will be returning to GHS this fall. Tickets will become available once the school year starts for the November 10th performance.

The Gloucester U Summer Drama program is having a blast filling the halls with the "Sound of Music." Having started the summer program July 5th, students are meeting twice a week to put on the "Getting to Know..." version of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic. The performance will be August 11th at 10am.

Gloucester U also helped the Summer Drama Program have an extra special day this past Tuesday, July 19th. Not only did the group get to attend the North Shore Music Theatre's current production of Mary Poppins, but they also learned first hand about set design and set painting from Julia Lee, a working artist based in NYC.

The students had a blast trying to write with bamboo, testing different brush techniques, and even participating in the post-show talk back with the cast of Mary Poppins.
